Using the multi-page function in SmartDraw, you can create a "Master" page, showing multiple projects at a high level view.
To begin, select the Gantt Chart template from the Popular Templates section of the Home page.
The default Gantt Chart template will load in your Work Area.
Type the name of your "Master" project in the cell that by default is called "Project"
Type the name of each "Sub" project contained within your "Master" project into the cells that, by default, contain the text "Task 1", "Task 2," etc.
If you need more than four "Sub" projects, add them to your "Master" project list by selecting Add Task from the Tasks & Milestones section of the SmartPanel.
Once your "Master" project list is complete, begin adding pages to your document. These will signify each "Sub" project.
Add a page by selecting the + icon from the top of your Work Area. Choose New Page, New Page from Template, Duplicate Page, or Add Existing Document from the drop down menu.
In this example, we want to create a Gantt Chart for each project from scratch (there is no existing Gantt chart for these projects), so select New Page. If you have already created a Gantt Chart for one of the "Sub" projects listed, select Add Existing Document.
If you've selected New Page, the default Gantt Chart will load in your Page 2 Work Area. You'll see the "Master" project name listed in the cell of your existing Gantt Chart.
Rename the cell to match the "Sub" project in Row 1 of Page 1. In this example, my "Sub" project from Row 1 is called "Estancia."
Build out the details of your project by adding tasks and milestones, assigning resources, setting due dates and durations, and adding dependencies.
When "Sub" project #1 is completely built, move onto "Sub" project #2 by repeating the instructions above. Build out all "Sub" projects within your "Master" project.
To rename the pages in your completed file, right-click on the page tab, then select Rename.
Type the name of your page ("Master" or "Sub" project) into the Rename page dialog box. Click OK.
Repeat this step for all pages ("Master" and "Sub" projects) in your file. The end result will be an organized file with your "Master" project as page one (1), and your "Sub" projects as the subsequent pages.
The "Master" project page is completely independent of the "Sub" project pages; thus, the Start/End/Duration/% Complete columns will not be updated automatically. To use this "Master" page as a dashboard for reporting, you will need to manually update those columns as your projects progress.
